(Light browning, small mark affecting one line on R8v and S1r, cancellans 'ERRATA' leaf b2 misbound after S7, lacking the advertisement leaf called for by Grolier Shelley before the title, the unsigned fly-title to 'Laon and Cythna', and the final blank S8.) Early 20th-century green crushed morocco gilt by Riviere & Son in a retrospective early 19th-century style, the covers with a double fillet panel with elaborate cornerpieces composed of floral and foliate tools, within a frame of 5 gilt fillets, double fillet border, the flat spine gilt in 6 compartments divided by raised bands, titled in one compartment and dated at the foot, the other compartments decorated with central gilt tools within gilt fillets with curlicue corner-pieces, the board edges gilt, gilt turn-ins decorated with cornerpieces of floral and foliate tools, ivory watered silk doublures, top edges gilt, others uncut (corners and head and tail of spine very lightly rubbed, spine and outer areas of covers faded). Provenance: Oliver Sylvain Baliol Brett, third Viscount Esher (1881-1963, armorial bookplate on upper pastedown); Esher sale, Sotheby's, the third portion commencing 18 November 1946, lot 1629, to; King.
