An oak chest, Dorset, late 17th century
with a moulded plank top and twin panelled sides, the front with an elm frieze and uprights carved with interlocking ovals, partly stained for contrast, the four panels each with foliate filled ovals, surrounded by painted corner and a dot-decoration, on stile feet with shaped spandrels -- 48in. (122cm.) wide, 24½in. (62cm.) high, 19½in. (49cm.) deep
