Although the upper part of the splat has been disturbed at the rear and therefore possibly replaced, it is possible to attribute this chair to George Wilson of Grantham. The profile of the leg turning, the underarm support turning and the pierced lower splat are all recorded and researched in Dr. B. Cotton The English Regional Chair, Woodbridge, 1991, pp.104, 106 and 107. A similar chair with a different splat but stamped by Wilson is shown on p.125, fig.NE670.
