Portrait of Maria and Emma Wilbraham, full-length, with their pet spaniel

Maria and Emma were the eldest daughters of Maria and George Wilbraham. Neither married; Maria died aged 19 in 1794, and Emma died aged 69 in 1852. Their younger sister, Anne, at the age of forty, married Field Marshal Thomas Grosvenor as his second wife in 1831. For a portrait of their mother, Maria, see lot 13.
