The Franciscan Convent, overlooking the Praya Grande, Macau, China

Chinnery executed a number of drawings showing the view of the Praya Grande and the Franciscan convent in 1838. Chinnery left Macau a year later, as did the rest of the British population as a result of the opium crisis.
