A Swept-Hilt Rapier
Early 17th Century
With tapering double-edged blade of flattened diamond section, the ricasso struck with a cross on one side and 'Marson' on the other, iron hilt comprising symmetrical guard with straight quillons, arms, triple side-rings on each side, knuckle-guard linked by curved bars to the upper side-rings, associated fluted pommel, and later wooden grip (some pitting, file marks on blade)
