An Italian Breast-Plate Of So-Called 'Pisan' Type, And A Decorative Cuirass
The first late 16th Century, the second in 16th Century style
The first of unusual weight and peasecod form, with narrow flange at the base (minor brazed repairs), and characteristic etched decoration arranged in bands with, at the top, the letter 'P' on an orb and cross above two volutes each framing a male profile head, struck with a shot-proving mark; the second comprising breast-plate with low medial ridge, etched with foliage and two armoured figures in combat, and skirt of two plates each etched with further foliage, and plain back-plate shaped to the back
