A German Full Armour In The 'Maximilian' Style
19th Century
Of bright steel, comprising helmet with one-piece skull pierced with lining-holes, low roped comb, neck-guard of two articulated plates, "monkey-face" visor and bevor pierced at the same points on either side, the former with stepped sight and vertical breaths, forked visor support formed as a snake, and plume-holder, gorget of three plates front and rear, cuirass with rounded breast-plate with skirt of three plates, prominent roped turns at the neck and gussets, hinged lance-rest, and back-plate with culet of three plates, tassets of four plates each, full arm defences, complete legharness with round-toed sabatons, and mitten gauntlets, fluted throughout with the exception of the greaves, the main edges turned and roped (scattered minor pitting and surface rust, some leathers broken): on wooden stand with manikin
