With two-piece skull and high comb, embossed on each side with a stylised fleur-de-lys within a circle of tongue ornament, and with tubular plume-holder at the rear, the brim pointed fore and aft and with turned and roped border, the base of the skull with a row of lining-rivets each with decorative brass washer, the surface originally painted black and white
