Lot Essay

A. Huhnstock was favoured by the British royal family, and examples of his work are preserved at Windsor Castle. The mounts of the present gun and of two rifles at Windsor (inv. nos. L 406 and 410) are highly distinctive. See Howard L. Blackmore, Royal Sporting Guns at Windsor, pp. 6, 49, plates 29 and 49
