The first dated 1838, the second circa 1840-50
The first reconverted from percussion, the lock stamped 'U.S. R. Johnson Middn. Conn. 1838', walnut half-stock, iron mounts, and later stirrup ramrod (iron parts with some pitting); the second with signed fluted barrel block stamped 'Norwich C-T', 'Cast Steel', and 'Patented 1837', scroll engraved action, etched nipple-shield, and walnut grips
