An Iron Rowel Spur
First half of the 15th Century, probably English
In excavated condition, for the right foot, with strongly downcurved flat heel-band with prominent pointed crest and figure-eight terminals retaining the original circular iron buckle and strap-attachment, long straight neck of diamond section, chiselled to represent an open calyx where it joins the rowel-box, and star-shaped rowel of eight points
