A German Cowter For The Left Elbow
Circa 1525-30, probably Augsburg
Made from a single piece of bright steel, of bold slightly asymmetrical form, the smaller part towards the forearm, embossed with narrow ribs radiating to the narrow double recessed borders, roped turns along the edges and, in the centre, two holes for the rivets (missing) formerly securing leathers: on a wooden stand
