Three ephemeral items, circa 1914, relating to the Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Provenance: SIR ERNEST SHACKLETON.

1p. The Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition headed notepaper [1914] (252 x 203mm.) bearing the autograph signatures of Shackleton, George Marston, Frank Wild, Aneas Mackintosh and J. Orde Lees (folded and mounted on a smaller sheet of paper).

A mounted photograph (186 x 306mm.) of the "Endurance" arriving in Buenos Aires, under tow from two tugs, [October 1914]. Mounted on card.

AN INTERESTING SERIES OF HIGHLY ACCURATE MAPS, INCLUDING AREAS VISITED BY SHACKLETON DURING HIS TRANS-ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION OF 1914-17. Charcot, on his second visit to the region, spent two seasons exploring despite an early near-disaster which left his vessel the Pourquoi-Pas? holed. He surveyed 1250 miles of coastline and newly discovered territory.
