Removal of Temple Bar, 1878, lead, 102 mm., by C.H. and J. Mabey (2), uniface medals depicting the eastern façade of Temple Bar with closed gates, TEMPLE BAR : ERECTED 1672, DEMOLISHED 1878; THIS EFFIGY OF IT WAS STRUCK FROM THE LEAD FORMERLY ON THE ROOF, enclosed within the usual glazed brass case (BHM.3051; JT.37a), one example badly corroded and with a chipped glass cover, the other extremely fine but with a dent in the edge of the brass case and lacking the baize backing, the rarest of the City of London series (2)
