oval, 2 3/16 in. (55 mm.) high, gilt-metal frame with spiral cresting, the reverse with monogram JS
Provenance
Acquired by James Sotheby (1655-1720), probably in 1691 from Mr Parry Walton (King William III's repairer of pictures).
Described in a list of circa 1720 as 'K.J.'s son-in-law and King of Bohemia, P. Oliver, 1621 [...in a frame] brass gilt and finely engrav'd'.

Lot Essay

Frederick V (1596-1632), Elector Palatine 1610 to 1623 married Elizabeth (see lot 30) in 1613. In 1619 Frederick was offered the crown of Bohemia. He was King for one winter.
