Lot Essay

The obverse of this piece is struck from the same die as Seaby, SCMB May 1970, no. DC59 m.m. rose, with m.m. thistle punched over the rose and a groundline added below the horse. The reverse is from the same die as Spink, SNC September 1989, no. 4688 m.m. rose, with m.m. thistle punched over the rose.
