TALLEY
The Talley single-vineyard Pinot Noirs are "as good as it gets" on the Central Coast of California. Under Brian Talley's direction and Steve Kasmussen's winemaking the winery has taken full advantage of its long experience with the cool microclimate of the Arroyo Grande, a short valley emptying directly into the Pacific between San Luis Obispo and Santa Maria. Alas, the quantities produced are miniscule--200 to 400 cases per year depending on the vintage--and much of the production is sold direct to consumers at the winery. Large formats are particularly rare.
