VIADER
Delia Viader is a true original--an Argentine-born PhD and single parent who against tremendous odds and at astronomical cost dared to create one of the steepest vineyards in California, and one of the first to be planted to European density (2000 vines per acre). The gamble has paid off. Viader's lower Howell Mountain property produces a first-rate red wine with a distinctive cepage: approximately 55 Cabernet Sauvignon and 45 Cabernet Franc. The wines have been highly praised since the debut 1989 vintage. The first winemaking consultant was Tony Soter; Amy Aiken has assisted Delia Viader since 1999. The nine-litre bottle of 1997 Viader offered below is one of only two produced.
