A sketch for a chair sent to Dyrham Park, Gloucestershire circa 1760 features a related fretted-rail back, and the pattern was described as being new and 'in much demand' (P. Thornton, Authentic Decor, London, 1984, p. 130, fig. 166).
A related armchair was sold from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Warner, Christie's New York, 12 October 1990, lot 142.
