The figures are of high quality and appear to be characteristic of Theodor Helmbreker (1633-1696) who was in Rome, more or less constantly, from 1654 until his death. Whilst he is known to have collaborated on a number of occasions with the architectural painter Niccolò Codazzi, for example in the Ruined Portico with Washerwomen, in the Galleria di Palazzo Pretorio, Prato (see D. Marshall, Viviano and Niccolò Codazzi, Milan, 1993, pp. 358-9, no. NC17), no other surviving pictures by him and Ghisolfi are known.
