Lot Essay

Hortense Eugénie Cécile Beauharnais (1783-1837) was born in Paris, the daughter of Alexandre, Vicomte de Beauharnais. As a child she was a favourite of her stepfather Napoleon. She married his brother Louis and became Queen of Holland.
