A champleve enamelled silver tea and coffee service
marked with unrecorded initials KA, St. Petersburg, circa 1890
The coffee and tea-pots and covered sugar basins of domed form with cylindrical necks, each on four bird's feet, with pieced crenelated fringe bases and shallow conical covers with raised central section and shaped finial enamelled with a cypher and surmounted by a coronet, decorated in the pan-slavic style with stylised flowers, birds and chevron patterns, the four biscuit bowls and creamer of similar form on bird's feet, together with six circular plates with similar borders and elaborate crest, cypher and motto in the centre, a further six plates with similar border and central patterns, incorporating a crowned cypher in the border, five cups and six saucers, en suite and a large two-handled tray with similar border and pierced crenelated rim, a set of six teaspoons, forks, knives and coffee spoons, strainer, tongs and sugar-shovel decorated in a similar pan-slavic design with stylised flowers and incorporating the crowned initials, together with a further set of six teaspoons, forks and knives with similar decoration, the circular finials enamelled with crowned initials, fully marked
