A .40 HALF STOCK PERCUSSION PLAINS TYPE RIFLE BY WILLIAM WINGERT, DETROIT ABOUT 1860
The octagonal barrel mounted with fore-sight and adjustable rear sight (a vintage replacement), marked on top flat WM.WINGERT/DETROIT, hooked breech with engraved extended tang, JOSEPH/GOLCHER marked lock with embellishments of dogs, birds and scrolls, walnut half stock (modified at fore-end, cracked at wrist and bruises otherwise sound), brass furniture, marked on underside ahead of toe-plate J.HAGY.
