A GOOD GERMAN .42 OVOID BORE PERCUSSION RIFLE
The re-browned damascus swamped octagonal barrel with german-silver banded muzzle, engraved fore-sight, engraved rear-sight adorned with an arrow, inscribed with the maker's name (now faint) and bearing English proofs, bar action percussion lock engraved with six deers in a wooded scene, the hunter with his rifle hiding behind a tree, the hammer with a bold "gothic" scroll, elaborate german-silver trigger guard engraved with a hunter and his dog, varnished figured walnut stock carved at the fore-end tip with a snarling boar, cheekpiece, sliding wood patch box (with the name of what may be the original owner written inside in ink), german-silver butt plate with embellished with a scene of a dog and a fox.

Re-browned barrel, marks on wood throughout.
