Lieutenant-Colonel Michael Anthony Langdon was commissioned into the Royal Marines in 1960 and was posted to No. 45 Commando two years later. Advanced to Lieutenant in 1963, he served in Aden and Radfan, latterly commanding a Recce Troop, and between 1965-66, with 43 Commando. Langdon was advanced to Captain in 1971, served in 42 Commando in Northern Ireland between 1971-72, and was Officer Commanding (R.M.) aboard the Assault Ship Fearless in 1977. He retired at his own request in 1989, with the honorary rank of Lieutenant-Colonel.
