Lot Essay

Musician Albert Ernest Sheppard was born at Gosport, Hampshire in 1874 and joined the Royal Marine Band Service at the Royal Naval School of Music, Eastney in 1904, having previously served for five years in the Royal Navy. He subsequently served aboard H.M.S. Euryalus in the Messina Earthquake Operations of 1909 and during the Great War served on the Battleships Dominion and Revenge. Sheppard was pensioned from the R.M.B.S. in 1921.
