2nd Lieutenant Anthony Blyton Beesley was born in Exmouth, Devon in January 1900 and attended Epsom College prior to being gazetted as a 2nd Lieutenant into the Royal Naval Air Service in December 1917. Subsequently transferred to the Royal Air Force, Beesley was injured in a flying accident in May 1918 but recovered sufficiently to join No. 120 Squadron for brief service in France in October of the same year. Tragically, however, he fell victim to the influenza epidemic, dying back home at the V.A.D. Hospital, Huntingdon on 1.12.1918.
