2nd Lieutenant Edward Charles Garrett Tay Hessing was born in December 1899 and resident in Leamington Spa prior to commencing flying training as a Cadet in July 1918. Hessing, who had also briefly served as a Lance-Corporal in the Hampshire Regiment, was demobbed with the rank of 2nd Lieutenant and went on to complete his studies at Cambridge University. His subsequent 1939-45 services require research.
