Lot Essay

Private Duncan Hanna was born in Eastleigh, Hampshire and enlisted in the Rifle Brigade in January 1901, aged 18 years. Posted to the 4th Battalion, he served in South Africa between April and October 1902, and transferred to the Royal Field Artillery as a Gunner in April 1903. Hanna was finally discharged in early 1913.
