Corporal John William Tillott was killed in action during the retreat from Gazala to El Alamein on 3.6.1942, while serving in the 9th (1st Battalion, The Tower Hamlets Rifles) Battalion, Rifle Brigade. Aged 31 years, he was interred in the Halfaya Sollum War Cemetery, Egypt.
