Sergeant Henry Burrows was born in Manchester, Lancashire and enlisted into the 8th Hussars in 1854. Arriving in the Crimea in April of the following year he participated in the operations before Sebastopol until struck down by illness and invalided to Scutari, and thence to the U.K. By September 1857 he had risen to the rank of Sergeant, shortly afterwards embarking for India, but in the following January was reduced to Private. Sadly, he died at Nusseerabad in August 1858.
