Lot Essay

Private Thomas Cage was born at Thurston, Suffolk in 1836 and enlisted in the 75th Regiment in 1855. In his subsequent career of 21 years with the Colours, he was present in the Delhi and Lucknow operations during the Indian Mutiny, in addition to other overseas postings to China, Singapore and the Cape of Good Hope.
