The burgundy field with an overall design of flowering trees and perching birds around scenes from the Persian epics including Leila and Majnun, Bahram Gur, mythological animals and a central elephant with a howdah carrying a royal figure, in a broad ivory border of various cartouches depicting human figures and angels divided by meandering leafy vine and animal combat groups, between pale pistachio-green and indigo meandering floral vine stripes, short striped kilim at each end
