With hinged moulded lid, above a front carved in relief with stylised tulips and a frieze drawer similarly-carved with opposing birds, on bun feet, metal work probably original, corner moulding repaired

Lot Essay

This type of coffor bach belongs to a small group attributed to the Gower Peninsula whose carved detail typically consists of tulip heads, daisy-like flowers and stylised birds upon the drawer. P. Havard in 'The Gower Coffor Bach', Regional Furniture Society Journal, Vol. VI, Maney, 1992 illustrates a virtually identical example (fig. 3).
