The eared rectangular hinged top inlaid with feather-banding, enclosing a green baize-lined interior with four wells above a frieze drawer and acanthus-carved cabriole legs, on claw and ball front feet and pointed pad back feet, restorations, with later varnish to the legs

Lot Essay

Harold Foot was an antique dealer who occupied 36 High Street, Oxford from 1938-1940. Mr. Foot sometimes labelled the items that he sold, including a card-table from the collection of Marjorie Wiggin Prescott, sold Christie's New York, 31 January 1981, lot 389 and another sold by the late Mrs M.B. Casey in these Rooms, 14 November 1991, lot 136. An early Georgian burr and figured walnut tallboy, belonging to a descendant of Mr Foot, and formerly in his private collection, was sold in these Rooms, on 6 April 1995, lot 265, (£77,000).
