The rounded rectangular cornice decorated with acanthus and centred by a shell, supported on two double-baluster bedposts decorated with flowers and foliage on a white ground and wreathed with acanthus, with plain square rear bedposts, on faceted bases with turned bun feet, the floral painted silk hangings hung from brass tubular rails, boxspring and mattress

Executed at the Staffordshire 'Ironstone China' manufactory established by Miles Mason, the pattern for the palm-wrapped pillars of this flower-sprigged bed features in George Smith's Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Guide, 1827 (pl. XLIII) (R.Haggar, Mason Porcelain and Ironstone 1796-1853, London, 1986).
