Lot Essay

The mangificent mansion at Wynyard Park built in the 1820s by Charles Stewart, 3rd Marquess of Londonderry suffered fire damage in 1841 and 1861. This carriage belonged to the Wynyard Fire Brigade instigated by Charles Stewart, 6th Marquess of Londonderry (d. 1915), when he succeeded to the estate in 1884.
