Lot Essay
The present lot is probably the earliest known copy of this work. The scribe was a renowned calligrapher, in charge of publishing books at the famous college in Baghdad known as the Mustansariya.
This copy was owned by Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (d. AH 672/1273 AD), whose marginal notes scatter the text and some of which are signed and dated. One of these notes on the first folio is dated Safar 661 (1262 AD).
