A finely carved and detailed mid-19th Century scale model of a Dutch State Yacht
with details including masts with wortels, yards, gaff, standing and running rigging with scale wooden blocks, full suit of stitched linen sails with luffs, leeches and grommets, carved figurehead depicting a lion rampant holding a book, anchors with wooden stocks, catheads, anchor winch with ratchet, belaying rails and pins, deck hatches with removable covers, octagonal deck house with painted and glazed windows, companionway, eight carved cannon in stepped wooden carriages, aft accomodation with glazed hinged doors, oval window and other details. The planked and framed hull with rudder, studded main whale, hinged keel boards with rests, glazed and painted stern gallery and windows and much fine carving to overall, is finished in white, green, red and 'gilt' (old wear, paint chips) -- 109 x 100cm.
