W.C. TIME TESTED SCHOOL SUPPLIES NEW TERRESTRIAL GLOBE C.S. HAMMOND & CO. NEW YORK [c.1930]
A 45.8cm. diameter terrestrial library globe made up of two sets of twelve chromolithographed gores, the equatorial graduated in degrees and hours, the Greenwich meridian and three colures graduated in degrees, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac with sigils, the oceans with an analemma and showing warm and cold ocean currents, isothermal lines for January and for July with temperatures in fahrenheit, and figures for the length of a degree of longitude along each latitude circle, the circumfrence of each latitude circle and the diameter of each latitude circle, all in English miles, also with patches of oceanic flora, the continents with some nation states lightly shaded in green, the majority in yellow, showing rivers, deserts, mountains, towns, cities, railways and the Great Wall of China (old discolouration, small dent to Pacific, some further slight scratches with small paper loss) with cast bronze meridian circle divided in four quadrants on one side, the mahogany horizon with colour printed paper ring with degrees for amplitude and azimuth, compass directions, and days of the month and of the houses of the Zodiac with names and sigils, raised on a cast bronze Art Deco-style tripod stand incorporating three quadrant supports for the horizon, stylised floral decoration, a triform cross stretcher and inswept legs terminating in ball and socket glass castors (one glass ball missing)
