An unusual early 19th-Century 7.6cm. diameter turned wooden 'opening' globe,
unsigned, but bearing a cartouche in the south-east Pacific Le Globe Terrestre, made up of two sets of twelve printed paper gores, the equatorial and prime meridian, running through Ferro, graduated in degrees, the ecliptic ungraduated but with sigils for the houses of the Zodiac, the continents with no national boundaries shown but with rivers and mountains, towns and cities (some old abrasion) hinged to open and reveal a plain hollow interior, raised on a simple turned ebonised plinth base
