Shackleton-Rowett Antarctic Expedition, 1921-1922
Sir Ernest Henry SHACKLETON (1874-1922) and others. - A transverse section of an ivory tusk, approximately oval (longest dimension: 5in. [12.7cm.]), one surface inscribed 'Antarctic Expedition 1921 "The Quest"' in ink by an unknown but contemporary hand, the verso bearing 17 signatures in ink (a number rubbed and illegible) but including Shackleton, L.Hussey, J.McIlroy, J.Marr, A.Kerr, G..V.Douglas and C.Green.
Provenance: Mr. Richards (present owner's great-grandfather).
