After a short stay in Madras, 29 March - 9 April, 1792, the Daniells set off on a long tour of South India first visiting Mysore. On 26 April, 1792, the Daniells were in Nursapore where William made a note of the rocky landscape in his diary. A drawing of the same view is in the collection of the India Office Library, no. 21. For more details of the Daniell's South Indian tour see lot 205.
