Lot Essay

Bhopal was built on the site of the 11th century city of Bhojapal founded by the legendary Raja Bhoj who is credited with having constructed the lakes around which the city is built. An Afgan mercenary from Delhi, Dost Mohammed Khan, founded the Bhopal dynasty at the end of the 17th century when it became a tiny Muslim dot in a predominantly Hindu state.
