The inscription on the present watercolour and that on lot 337a is by Sir Henry Leland Harrison (1837-1892). Harrison went out to Bengal in 1860 for a career in the Indian civil service. He rose to be the Commissioner of Police and the chairman of the Corporation of Calcutta between 1881-1890. Elected as a member of the Board of Revenue in 1990, he died of cholera two years later.
