One of a series of fine plates produced from drawings by Salt, made when he accompanied George Annesley, Viscount Valentia (later Mountnorris) as his secretary and draughtsman on an eastern tour which included the first British mission to Abyssinia. Salt's original drawings remained in Valentia's possession, and after Salt's death the plates too became his property.
