A SELJUK MOULDED TURQUOISE GLAZED BOTTLE
NORTH EAST PERSIA, CIRCA 1200
The body of pronounced drop-shape rising to a short hexagonal facteted neck and rounded mouth with everted lip, on short foot, the exterior moulded under the glaze with a band of very elegant naskh on a ground of spiralling leafy and flowering tendrils with perching birds and a large aubergine palmette, a band of complex knotted kufic above, a simple arcaded band below, covered with a plain turquoise glaze, some restoration, neck and mouth possibly associated, slight silvery iridescence
