A MASSIVE CANTON FAMILLE ROSE PUNCHBOWL
Circa 1825
Richly enameled on the exterior with two large court scenes, one a noblewomen's banquet and the other a noblemen's banquet, both groups with an array of covered dishes before them, the men being entertained by circus performers, all reserved on a ground of numerous birds with blossoms and fruits between figural vignettes on the sides and a band of garden scenes around the rim, the interior with a large court scene in the center encircled by a continuous outdoor scenes crowded with court figures and immortals in gardens and terraces, all below a gilt-ground border densely packed with fruits and flowers
