KANNON AND DRAGON
late 19th century
Hanging scroll, ink and color on silk, depicting Kannon seated on rockwork dressed in elaborate, layered robes with gilt detailing, holding pearls in both hands, a dragon encircling the rockwork base, the head resting on the lap of Kannon, all before a red aureole, mounted on brocade, inscribed above the figure 'God of Good Luck', and signed lower right 'Choya-jun, kinhai sha, age of sixty seven'
